
Ängabackens Björksoda is a naturally fermented beverage, made from 100% birch sap and aged in a root cellar in a small farm located in Sonarp, Småland. The birch soda, with its dry and funky, mature taste, is a great non-alcoholic alternative to natural wine.
Ahead of the launch, I designed a proposal for the label that aimed to highlight the product’s heritage and the craftsmanship behind it. aking inspiration from the trunk of the birch tree and its bark’s stark contrast between black and white, I hand-painted the label’s logo in a rough gauche paint.

In the ideation, I explored a few other routes for the label, flirting with both local Smålandic crafts and nordic mythology, before settling on a more modern approach.
